Welcome to your sustainability electives!
The framework is based on four themes currently entitled: introduction to sustainability, sustainability in depth, embedding factors, delivering impact.
These themes take account of those learners on programmes that have a significant level of sustainability content and those that have not.
Theme 1: Introduction to sustainability
This theme is for learners that do not have directed sustainability content in their learning programmes.
It is introductory with a key aim for learners to understand the breadth of the concept of sustainability. The breadth of this theme is underpinned by the assumption that some learners may only take this elective.
Theme 2: Sustainability in depth
Select one or more electives that explore an aspect of sustainability in-depth.
Learners on the CRS 2.0 programme would select a number of electives from this theme. Other learners, such as Publishing Professional may only take one of these electives.
Theme 3: Embedding sustainability
This theme is to support learners to embed sustainability. It encourages action to deliver impact.
It is based on the pedagogical approach of applied learning and supports sequencing learning to advance from fundamental theoretical knowledge (basics) to understanding the complexity of embedding sustainability through exploration and examination of the challenges and opportunities that may be faced.
Theme 4: Delivering impact
This theme is to enable learners to show that they can deliver impact and sustainable change.
It offers synoptic electives that allow learners to show how they are able to draw from, integrate and apply knowledge and skills acquired from across different parts of a course. There are two electives in this theme. One is for leaders who apply their knowledge and skills to drive forward change. One is for those without significant leadership roles that are able to change their own practice and so showcase and champion sustainable change in others.
